The Chadron Police Department is investigating several entries to vehicles during the night of Sunday June 6, 2010 and early morning of Monday June 7. Person(s) entered the vehicles and took miscellaneous amounts of cash and other valuables from vehicles on the 200 block of King, 100 Block of Chapin and 200 Block of Ann Streets. We encourage vehicle owners to lock up their vehicles at all times, no matter how insignificant their items inside may seem. Items most often used or needed on a daily basis are easily targeted for theft. We would also like the public to call and report seemingly innocent situations. We would rather make the determination that no criminal activity is afoot rather than overlooking the chance of apprehension of those who would engage in thefts or any or crime. Most of the time these crimes are solved because of someone calling in to report the seemingly innocent. The police department is asking for the public’s assistance by covering or securing items from their vehicles and locking them up. Anyone wanting to call in and report a crime or furnish information may call the Chadron Police Department at 308-432-0510 or Dawes County Crime Stoppers 308-432-0519. Crime Stoppers callers may remain anonymous and eligible for a cash reward leading to the arrest and/or conviction of those involved. - Sgt. J. Wallage
