CSC officials closed the business office Friday as police officers were on campus to investigate.

The incident occurred on the same week payments were due from students for the fall semester. According to Chadron Police Lt. Rick Hickstein, the person said they were approached by an armed male suspect who demanded property. When the victim showed they did not have anything to give, the suspect left on foot.

A perimeter was established by the Chadron Police Department and a K-9 unit was brought in from Sheridan County to assist with the search; as well as, officers from the Nebraska State Patrol, the Dawes County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office.

A search ensued, but the suspect was not found.

Lt. Hickstein said, the suspect is described as a five-foot-six to five-foot-nine inch tall white male in his mid to upper teens with a tall, slender build. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt; baseball hat; and loose, baggy blue jeans.

No one was injured in the attempted robbery and the investigation continues.
